Edwina Viola “Rener” Edwards, 61, passed away on November 1, 2017 in Springfield. Edwina was born on June 24, 1956 to the late Edward and Ethel (Hale) Dean in Dante, Virginia. Edwina “Rener” as her loved ones called her loved to be in the company of family. She had a passion for cooking and loved to cook for family and friends anytime. The loves of her life where her grandchildren, who she gave her everything for. Edwina graduated from The High School of Commerce and pursued her profession in the Mental Health Field. In her childhood years she was an active member of the Salvation Army for years along with the rest of her family. A few years later she began her family, and moved to Bristol Virginia where she resided for many years. Edwina belonged to the Durham Memorial Methodist A.M.E. church while in Buffalo, NY. After the passing of a family member in Buffalo NY, Edwina relocated to be closer to family. She aided in the care of her parents before their passing. After 15 plus years of living in Buffalo NY, Edwina decided to relocate to Springfield MA due to health issues to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters, Tabitha Vye and Thelma Lee Dean. She leaves her cherished grandchildren: Carlington, Jawarie, Prince, Marcus and her one and only granddaughter, Brooklyn. Edwina is also survived by her siblings: Tyger (Cleveland), Cheryl (Mike), Fred, Maria, Elizabeth (Leaman), Leona (Robert), Pearl, Paula, Richard, Curtis, Lemar and J.J. She was predeceased by her brother Peter. Edwina also leaves her Uncles, Robert and Carl Hale, and her deceased uncle Damon Hale. She leaves one aunt, Esther McAllister, and was predeceased by her aunts, Beverly Hale and Connie Shand. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she also loved so much.
