Ernest "Ernie" Introvigne
SPRINGFIELD- Ernest Dominic Introvigne, 81, of Springfield passed into eternal life on July 3, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center. Ernest, son of the late Dominic and Elsie (Champagne) Introvigne, was born in Springfield on November 22, 1936. A lifelong resident of Springfield, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School. He served his country in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 11 years where he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ernest was past president and general manager of D. J. Introvigne and Sons, Inc where they were the packers of the original “5 in 1” mix flavored bread crumbs. He was also the general sales manager of the Food Service Division for New England Spice Co., Inc. in Dorchester, MA. When Ernest was semi-retired, he worked as a food service broker for the New Boston Marketing Group in Rockland, MA. Ernest was a past member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4044 in Chicopee. Ernest was also a parishioner of St Catherine of Siena Church where he was a head usher, a member of the Holy Name Society, and a member of the weekly evening prayer group. He was an avid fisherman and every chance he had he would spend at a pond or river with his son, his daughter, and his friends. He also enjoyed vacationing on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina with his family and taking trips to St. Maarten in the Caribbean with his wife. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Timothy Introvigne. Ernest will be missed by all who knew him, including his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan (LaPalme) Introvigne; his daughter, Betty DeLuca of Enfield, CT; his grandchildren, Nichole Miranda and her fiancé John Becker, and Scott Introvigne and his wife Kylee; his great grandchildren, Addison, Skylar Ann, Dominic, and Timothy John; his cousin, Fr. Ray Introvigne; and many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours for Ernest will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 from 10AM to 11AM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield at 11:30AM. Rites of Committal and Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ernest’s memory may be made to T.J.
