Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Lambert passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28th 2018. Born in Lowell, MA on December 16th, 1927 to the late Arthur and Georgiana (Menard) Lambert. She relocated to Springfield in 1943 where she graduated from Classical High School and attended the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She also worked in the psychiatric and pediatric wards as a registered nurse before getting a masters degree in nursing from Boston University. In 1967 she began teaching Pediatrics at Boston University School of Nursing before retiring in 1982. Ruthie had a number of interests; cooking, crossword puzzles, and traveling, including visiting Bermuda, Barbados, Hawaii, and Greece. She also had a great affection for cats. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Springfield for many years and later St. Cecelia’s of Wilbraham. In recent years she was a dedicated member of the Red Hat Society. Ruthie was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur L. Lambert Jr., Robert E. Lambert, and John R. Lambert, as well as her sisters Marion E. Lambert, and Gloria M. Lambert. She will be remembered by 22 nieces and nephews, as well as a number of great nieces and nephews. A period of visitation for Ruthie will be held from 9-11am at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, Tinkham Rd in Springfield on September 6th. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am at St. Catherine of Sienna Parish in Springfield. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
