Springfield- Bun Num “Nina” (Pak) Yates, 84, of Springfield passed away June 5, 2016 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. Nina was born in Pusan, Korea on October 21, 1931. After immigrating to Springfield, she worked as a seamstress for various places in Springfield. Nina also wrote and published four autobiographies. She was a member of Foster Memorial Church. Nina enjoyed sewing and was an amazing cook and gardener. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James D. Yates in 1997. Nina will be missed by all who knew her including her son, Jay S. Yates of Denver, CO; her daughters, Eva B. O’Brien and her husband Gerry of Indian Orchard, Jamie D. Yates-Yee and her husband Wayne of Monson, and Joyce D. Yates-Hill and her husband Bryan of Holland; her grandchildren, Jed and his wife Maria, Ben and his wife Sarah, Erin, Moira and her husband Angel, Tylum, Donovan; her great grandchildren, Ethan, Christen, Morgan, Logan, Angel “Juni”, Jacob, and Nikolai; her beloved dog, Donchu; and many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 12 noon to 2PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. A Funeral Home Service will follow beginning at 2PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
