Obituary for Albert N. Yenian

Albert N.  Yenian
Wilbraham- Albert N. Yenian, age 93, husband of the late Velma Yenian, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on June 1, 2017. Born in Springfield on 1-18-24, he was the son of Charles and Virginia (Anderson) Yenian. A Classical High School graduate, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, where he achieved the status of Intelligence Specialist in the Office of Strategic Services (now known as the CIA). While stationed in Washington D.C., in 1943, he met his future wife, to whom he was married for 68 years. He then was based in England, France, and Scotland. When his military service ended, he attended Northeastern University. There he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1955. He then went on to a long career operating the family owned Oriental Rug business in Springfield. Albert was predeceased by his sister, Gladys Scopp. He leaves behind a son, Charles, and his wife Ann, of Wilbraham, a daughter, Virginia, and husband Gary, of Wilbraham, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. During his life, Albert was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Wilbraham Country Club. He and his wife enjoyed spending winters at their second home in Venice, FL. He was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Visiting Hours for Albert will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 4-7PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Gregory’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 135 Goodwin Street, Indian Orchard, on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10AM for Albert’s Liturgy with burial following at Hillcrest Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Albert’s memory may be made to St. Gregory’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 135 Goodwin St., Indian Orchard, MA 01151.
