SPRINGFIELD- Barbara Dorothy (Nashville) Mackie, 85, of Springfield passed away May 10, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Barbara, daughter of the late Wycliffe and Hazel (Taylor) Nashville, was born in Springfield on August 25, 1932. A lifelong resident of Springfield, she was a retail clerk for Sears and Roebuck where she retired after 47 years of faithful service. Barbara loved taking trips to the casino and crocheting. She was also an avid puzzle maker. Above all, Barbara enjoyed going to Tuesday Night Bingo with her friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alexander D. Mackie; and all of her siblings. Barbara will be missed by all who knew her, including her sons, Al Mackie Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Wilbraham, Dean Mackie and his wife Kathy of Springfield, and Gene Mackie of East Longmeadow; her daughter, Kim Kurpaska and her husband Edward of Venice, FL; her 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Deforest (James) of Wilbraham, DJ Mackie of Springfield, Danny Mackie of Springfield, Michael Mackie (Nicole) of Wilbraham, Anthony Maggi of Venice, FL, Jamie Mackie (Kristin) of Longmeadow, Courtney Teece (Shawn) of Hampden, and Laura Gonzales (Emiliano) of Northport, FL; her 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Visiting Hours for Barbara will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 10AM to 11:30AM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. A Funeral Home Service will begin at 11:30AM. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St., Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. We will forever and always miss you! -Your Loving Kids
