Obituary for William R. Roberts

William R.  Roberts
Wilbraham- William R. Roberts, 74, of Wilbraham, died peacefully on Sunday morning, August 26,2018 at his home. William was the former president of William Roberts Electric of Wilbraham for over 25 years. He was a member of the Apprenticeship Committee and a teacher for the Local 7 I.B.E.W. and also a N.E.C.A. member. Born in Springfield on November 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Henry and Ann (Knox) Roberts. He was raised in Springfield and graduated from Putnam Vocational High School. William was a communicant of St Cecilia’s Church. William was devoted husband, as well as a great man and a wonderful father. In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Amedeo) Roberts; and his brother, Joe Roberts. William is survived by his son, Dennis Roberts and his wife Lee of Ludlow MA; as well as his son, Mark Roberts and his fiancée Carolyn of Broadbrook CT; his five grandchildren, Anthony, Joey, Elise, DiMarco, Zofia; his step grandchildren, Ethan and Victoria; his brother, John Roberts and wife Jan of FL, Tom Roberts of Chicopee, Michael Roberts and his wife Monita of Ware MA, Jay Roberts and his wife Paula of Washington D.C.; his daughter in law, Cheryl Roberts; and his sister, Pat Gootzit with husband Gary of Westfield; brother in laws, Dominic Amedeo and his wife Ellen of PA, Salvatore Amedeo and his wife Brenda of Ludlow and Joe Lavigne of Feeding Hills; his friend Maria and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Calling hours for William will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 4 to 7pm at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Rd. Spfld MA 01129. Family and friends are asked to meet at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. to be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Cecilia’s Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA. Rites of Committal will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 421 Tinkham Rd., Springfield MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
