Obituary for Barbara S Contois (Gordon)

EAST LONGMEADOW – Barbara S. Contois (Gordon), 71 of East Longmeadow passed away Wednesday at home surrounded by her loving daughters. Barbara was born in Springfield, MA daughter of the late Morris Gordon and Roslyn Weisenburg (Wexler). She is a graduate of Classical High School and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Westfield State University. Barbara was a dedicated Elementary School teacher and a tutor for the Curtis Blake Center at American International College. She devoted her life to helping others and supporting her family in all ways. Barbara enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing and recently pickleball. She was a member of Twin Hills Country Club and a past member of the Longmeadow Field Club. In addition to her parents and grandparents, (Blanche Jacobson and Albert Wexler) she was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years David A. Contois. She is survived by her two daughters Nicole Contois and fiancé John Kane of Springfield, Alicia Skurko and husband Mike of East Longmeadow and grandson Maxwell David Skurko, her brother Gary Gordon of Fountain Hills, AZ, as well as many other family and friends that she loved and cherished. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 10 am in St. Michael's Church, 110 Maple St, East Longmeadow. Burial is private for the family. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Barbara’s life at Twin Hills Country Club, 700 Wolf Swamp Rd, Longmeadow, MA following the funeral services. For those that prefer donations, in Barbara’s memory, may be sent to Rays of Hope, Baystate Health Foundation 280 Chestnut St, Springfield, MA 01104.
