Charlestown, RI- Charles G. Gore Jr. of Charlestown, RI passed away December 1, 2018 at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Home in Bristol, RI. Charles, son of the late Charles and Rose (Ducharme) Gore, was born in Springfield on December 26, 1927. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. Charlie went on to become a machine operator for Longview Fiber Box where he retired in 1993 after 41 years of faithful service. He lived in Springfield for most of his life before moving to Charlestown, RI in 1996. Charlie was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Chapel in Charlestown, RI. He loved to fish, take trips to the beach, and travel with his wife, Janet. Charlie was a proud member of the Auburn Street Bone Crushers Football Team. In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet (White) Gore; his grandson, Greg Gore, and his great granddaughter, Kylie Cornwell. He was also predeceased by all of his siblings. Charlie will be missed by all who knew him, including his sons, Charles G. Gore and his wife Ginger of Layton, UT, Alan F. Gore and his wife Lisa of Longmeadow, MA, and Lawrence E. Gore and his companion Sherry Morse of Palmer; his grandchildren, Amy, Carie, Joel, Jana, Trisha, Ian, Michael, and Wendy; several great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours for Charlie will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 5PM to 7PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 7, 2018, beginning at 10AM at Sampson’s followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30AM in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow at 1PM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01104.
