Warren K. Metras,71, devoted husband and loving father, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 2nd 2018. He was born on March 1st, 1947 to the late Joseph and Evelyn Metras (Spillane) in Holyoke. Warren grew up in Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee Comp High School. Warren proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge in 1968. In 1969, Warren married the love of his life, Geraldine Metras (Antico) and they remained married until her death on December 3rd, 2017. Warren lived, worked and raised his family in Springfield. Warren worked in various sales positions and at one point owned his own window and siding business. Warren was happiest when he had a fishing pole in his hand and relished his time deep sea fishing with all of his fishing buddies. Warren also loved hunting, golfing, coin collecting, The Red Sox and took great pride in his garden. Warren had a green thumb and it brought him great joy to plant trees, flowers and maintain his bonsai trees. Warren enjoyed spending time at the beach and his camper in Salisbury. Warren was very generous and contributed to multiple charities including Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans of America. Warren was a member of the Chicopee Sportsman Club for over 50 years, and was a member of ELKS and Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Warren was predeceased by his two sisters Joanne and Patsy and his nephew Bobby He leaves behind his daughter Melissa Cardaropoli and her husband Marc. His two grandchildren Niccolo and Isabella Cardaropoli. His doting daughter Chrissy Metras and her partner Jesse. His brother Kevin Metras and his wife Sandy. His brother Brian and his wife Linda. His sister in law Elaine Geoffrion and her husband John. His brother in law Kenneth Antico and his wife Karen. He leaves his nieces and nephews, Katie, Danny, Heather, Josh and Moriah. Warren is finally reunited with his lifetime love, Geraldine which brings peace and comfort to his family. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation for Warren from 4-7pm at the Sampson Chapel of the Acres on Tinkham Rd in Springfield on Thursday, December 6th. A funeral home service will be held on Friday December 7th at 12pm. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam.
