SPRINGFIELD- Maureen Margaret (Keating) Pooler, age 91, passed away peacefully January 7, 2019, at Mont Marie Healthcare Center. Born in Springfield December 1, 1927, to the late James and Mary (Begley) Keating, Maureen was raised in Springfield in the Hungry Hill section and lived most of her life on Stockman Street. She attended and graduated from Cathedral High school in 1945. She then went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Our Lady of the Elms in 1949 and worked for over 47 years as a teacher for Our Lady of Hope and the Armory Street School. Maureen was a loving wife, a caring mother, and an inspirational teacher who impacted many lives. She was known for her quick wit and her kindness and acceptance of all people. In addition to her parents, Maureen is predeceased by her husband, Forrest S. Pooler, her brother, Geoffrey Keating, and her sister, Joann Kenney. Maureen will be missed by all who knew her, including her sons, Edmund Pooler and his wife Eileen of Southampton, MA, Charles F. Pooler of Miami, FL and John Pooler and his wife, Iris of Miami, FL; her daughters, the Honorable Judge Teresa Pooler of Miami, FL and the retired Honorable Judge Catherine Pooler of Miami, FL; her grandchildren, Michael Pooler and his wife Nicole, Matthew Pooler, Margaret Pooler, and Dillon Pooler; her great grandchildren, Jonathan Pooler and Tyler Moon; and her sister, Sr. Kathleen Keating, SSJ of Holyoke, MA; as well as many extended family members and friends. The family is grateful for the gracious care given to her at Mont Marie Health Care Center and would like to extend their deepest thanks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 34 Lower Westfield Rd, Holyoke, MA 01040. Visiting hours for Maureen will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 4pm-7pm at Sampson’s Family Chapels, 710 Liberty Street, Springfield, MA 01104. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in Mont Marie chapel, 36 Lower Westfield Rd, Holyoke MA 01040, beginning at 11am. Rites of Committal and Internment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State St, Springfield, MA 01109.
