Springfield- Lois E. (Hughes) Pratt, 90, of Springfield, passed away peacefully March 5, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Syracuse, NY on July 17, 1928 to the late Bernard and Mary (Hannon) Hughes, she was raised in Springfield and graduated from Cathedral High School Class of 1946. Lois worked for John H. Breck Company where she met her husband James before starting her family. She later went on to work as a wedding coordinator for Hampden Country Club for many years. Lois was an avid golfer and belonged to leagues at Veteran’s Golf Course in Springfield and in Deerfield Beach, Florida, where she spent her winters for many years. Lois was the life of the party and lived her life to the fullest. She also enjoyed traveling, swimming, walking, and dancing, as well as entertaining friends with dinner parties with card games, as well as spending time in her yard. Lois was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved Irish music. In 2007, she had the opportunity to travel to Ireland where she made many lifelong memories. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lois is predeceased by her husband, James E. Pratt; her companion, Eddie Rosso; her brothers, James and William Hughes; and her sisters, Eileen Romanko, Jane Cooley, and Joan Deroche, as well as a son in law Daniel Shea. Lois will be missed by all who knew her, including her son, James Pratt and his wife Karen of Springfield; her daughters, Judy Albano and her husband John of Springfield, Joanne Fitzpatrick and her husband Sean of Springfield, and Ann Pratt of Agawam; her brother, John “Jack” Hughes and his wife Priscilla of East Longmeadow; her grandchildren, Michael Shea, Ryan Shea, Stephen Pratt, Daniel Pratt, Joseph Pratt, and Lilly Brown; her brother in law, Arthur Cooley; her faithful companion, Hayleigh; her several nieces and nephews; as well as many friends. Visiting hours for Lois will be held, Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 9AM to 11AM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Rd, Springfield, followed by a Funeral Home Service beginning at 11AM. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd, Springfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or Spectrum Hospice, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow, MA 01106.
