Loretta Ann (Coutu) Picard, 90, of Springfield was entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 10th, 2019. She was born in Keene, NH on April 3rd, 1928, and moved to Springfield in 1952, working at the Carter’s Children’s clothing factory before marrying Jean Paul Picard, her husband of 60+ years. She was a school bus driver for 20 years before retiring in 1994. She was an avid golfer, belonging to several women’s golf leagues, most notably at Veteran’s Golf Course. One of her most memorable moments was when she made a hole in one at Franconia Golf Course on the 5th hole. Loretta was also a lifetime member of the Templeton Fish and Game Club. She took great enjoyment in sharing time weekly with friends playing cards and crafting note cards. In addition to her husband, Loretta is survived by her four loving children, Denise Lind of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Catherine Gibbs and her husband Douglas of Westfield; Linda Wood and her husband Steven of Belchertown; and David Picard and his wife Dawn of West Suffield, CT. Loretta’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her eight cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Michael, Keith, Amelia, Benjamin, John, and Claire. Family and friends are invited to the Sampson Chapel of the Acres on Saturday March 23rd from 9am-11am for a period of visitation; a funeral home service will begin at 11am. Burial will follow at St Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, Loretta’s family has requested that a memorial donation in her memory be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield MA 01104.
