Mary-Jo Gassnola of Springfield entered into eternal rest at her home on Tuesday, April 7, 2019. She was born May 11, 1948 to the late Leon and Mary (Haley) Plass in Springfield. She was a graduate of the High School of Commerce. She later worked for many years at American International College for the Ace Program. Mary-Jo served as a deacon at the House of Prayer for All Nations in Chicopee. Mary-Jo also gave her time as a mentor at AIC as well as serving as a prison minister and as a minister with the Joyce Myer Ministry. Mary-Jo also taught financial literacy at the Springfield YMCA. Mary-Jo was an avid Red Sox fan, never missing a game. She also loved to listen to Elvis. Mary-Jo leaves one son, Thomas J. Gassnola and Danielle Labarre of Belchertown; one daughter, Beth Gassnola of Springfield; two sisters, Susan P. Lawson and her husband Kevin and Deborah P. Lantaigne and her husband Gary; five grandchildren, Jenyka, Kaylee, Juliana, Gianna and Dante also her sister in spirit and best friend Peggy Arnold. She was predeceased by her infant son Mark Catanzarita. A Funeral Service will he held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 11 am at Sampson Chapel of the Acres 21 Tinkham Rd. Springfield with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 9 to 11 am at the funeral home.
