Wilbraham- Richard W. Dudley, age 88, passed away peacefully, the morning of May 8, 2019 at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke. Richard was born in Springfield on Apr 10, 1931 to the late Royal and Alice (Mackie) Dudley. He graduated from West Springfield High School, class of 1947, and served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He received a Masters of Pharmacology degree from the Hampden College of Pharmacy, and worked as Chief Pharmacist for Providence Hospital in Holyoke for many years. Richard also taught Pharmacy Law at Western New England University, and was appointed by Governor Michael Dukakis to serve on the Board of Registration of Pharmacy. After retirement, he also worked for the pharmacy departments in Costco and Walmart. Richard leaves his loving wife Margaret (Huddle) Dudley of Wilbraham; one daughter Catherine Schuetz and her husband Robert of Braselton, GA; three sons, Shawn Dudley and his wife Colleen of Somers, CT; Steven Dudley of Wilbraham; and Torin-Patrick Dudley of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Nancy Devine and Alice Dudley of W. Springfield and six grandchildren, Zachary, Christopher and Clayton Schuetz, Tierney Dudley, Emily (Dudley) Martins and Bailee Crisinati. Richard was predeceased by one son, Christopher; sister Mary Derby; three brothers, Neil, Roy and Alan; and his grandson Hunter Dudley. A funeral will be held on Wed, May 15th at 12:30 pm at Sampson Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road in Springfield, MA. A funeral home service will begin at 1:30 pm at the same location with burial to follow at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. The family has reserved visiting hours on Tues, May 14, 2019 from 4 to 6 pm at Sampson Chapel of the Acres.
