Frederick W. Forsyth, Jr.

HAMPDEN- Frederick William Forsyth Jr., 72, of Hampden passed away July 17, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Frederick, son of the late Frederick and Irene (Leahy) Forsyth Sr., was born in Springfield on June 14, 1947. Raised in Springfield, he was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School and attended STCC. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. Frederick worked as a civil engineer for the Springfield Department of Public Works where he retired after 38 years of faithful service. He loved to travel and work around his home. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Frederick will be missed by all who knew him, including his wife of 50 years Barbara (Shonak) Forsyth; his son, James Forsyth; his daughter, Karen DeVries and her husband Paul of Monson; his sisters, Maureen Moore and her husband Edward of Florida, and Patricia McSwain and her husband Darrell of Chicopee; his grandchildren, MacKenzie DeVries, Sydnie DeVries, and William Forsyth; and many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours for Frederick will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 from 4PM to 7PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 beginning at Sampson’s at 8:45AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, 387 Chestnut Street, Springfield.
