Therese B Hervieux, 91, passed away at home on July 26, 2019. She was born May 13, 1928 in Springfield MA, the youngest of seven children born to Arthur and Helen (Fenton) Opitz. She graduated Class of 1945, High School of Commerce before starting her life’s vocation as a hairdresser, working from her home and at area nursing homes. Therese enjoyed singing, cooking and knitting. She was a choir member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and St. Anthony’s Maronite Church. Family and friends enjoyed apple pies she baked each holiday season. Therese was predeceased by her husband, William A Hervieux (1992), and her five brothers: Charles, Bernard, John, Arthur and Lawrence. She is survived by a sister, Helena (Opitz) Bernier (age 94) and four children: Bonnie Aitchison, Beth (Aitchison) Lewis (Thomas), William T. Aitchison, Jr. (Mary Lou), and Tim Aitchison; nine grandchildren: William III, Laura, Maureen, Ben, Nicholas, Douglas, Mark, Matthew and Marcus; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Sampson Chapel of the Acres 21 Tinkham Rd, Springfield MA from 10 am to 12 pm with a 1 pm funeral service at St Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church 375 Island Pond Rd, Springfield MA. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd, Springfield MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Carew St Springfield MA 01104 or St Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church 375 Island Pond Rd Springfield MA 01118.

My Aunt shared her love with us unconditionally. She looked after us as we explored and did the crazy things kids do. We shared the laughing and crying at many family gatherings, the memories will last forever. Hugs to all, take care of one another as she took care of you!
