Obituary

WESTFIELD—Ruth Marie (Kennedy) Klinakis, 89, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Daughter of the late James and Laura (Blanchard) Kennedy, she was born and raised in West Springfield graduating from West Springfield High School. In addition to being a homemaker, she volunteered for over 30 years at Baystate Medical Center as a patient advocate. She also served as a greeter for many years at St. Catherine of Siena Church and was an active member of their Women’s Guild. Ruth was an avid reader and loved to travel especially to the Bahamas where she vacationed every year with friends and family. Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew her including her daughters, Laura and husband Mark Stevens of Westfield, MA, and Alice Moore of Springfield, MA; her sons Peter Klinakis and Thomas Klinakis, both of Springfield, MA; and her granddaughters, Leila Trutanich, Esq. and husband, Thom and Elise Stevens, PhD and husband, Vineeth. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, Peter Klinakis, her son Paul Klinakis, and her daughter, Donna LaCroix. Visiting hours for Ruth will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019, from 8:30am-9:30am at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. Immediately following, a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129. Burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baystate Children’s Hospital - 280 Chestnut Street, 6th Floor, Springfield, MA 01119.
