Obituary

Arthur F. Spaulding of Springfield entered into eternal rest at his home on Thursday, September 5th surrounded with the love and affection of his family. He was born on November 1st, 1942 to the late Robert and Dorothy (Johnson) Spaulding in Springfield. He attended city schools and was a graduate of Western New England College where he received a bachelor’s degree and then continued his education with a masters in JCFUFA. Arthur worked for many years as a master electrician at PJ Lodola & Sons. Arthur was an avid boater always enjoying his time on the water with friends and family, as well as a skier of both the slopes and the seas. Arthur also loved to cook for his family. In addition, he was a member of the John Boyle O’ Reilly Club and the Western Mass Yacht Club. Arthur will forever be missed by his beloved wife Patricia (Keith) Spaulding, his son Eric Spaulding and his wife Vanessa of Chicago, his daughter Shauna Spaulding of Springfield, sister in law Linda O’Neill, and his brother in law Irwin Keith and his wife Evelyn. Arthur also leaves behind his brother Robert Spaulding and his wife Brenda of Springfield, six grandchildren: Jovan, Madison, Eva, Ella, Gavin, Elyse, as well as his nieces and nephews John, Ian, Jeremy, Bridget, Erin, Matthew, Robert, Denise, and Nicole. Arthur's family would also like to thank the staff of the Sister Caritas Cancer Center and Baystate Hospice for their never ending compassion and care for Arthur. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Sampson Funeral Home at 710 Liberty St in Springfield, on Sunday September 8th for a period of visitation from 1-3pm, a funeral home service will follow at 3pm. As a token of love and affection for Arthur, a memorial donation to his favorite charities may be made to St. Jude Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Open Pantry PO Box 5127, Springfield, MA 01101.
