Obituary

John A. Bowie formerly of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, September 11th. John was born on January 12th 1941 to the late Ernest Bowie Sr and Leona (Vannah) Bowie in Maine. He worked for many years at the Springfield Armory as an armorer. John enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the casino with. He also had a passion for muscle cars, and listening to the music of Elvis. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his companion of over 30 years, Irene Pasquariello, as well as his sisters Sandra Duchaineau and Shirley Rider. John will be missed by his daughter Karen Gaudet of Maine, his brothers Ernest and Robert Bowie of Maine, his sister Mary Vermette of Connecticut, and his step children Michael Perry of Peterborough, NH, Donna Talbot of Southwick, Deborah McCarthy of Ludlow, Darlene Nell of Springfield, Diane Meunier of Somers, CT, Denise Roberts of Springfield, Doreen Caney of Westfield, and Mia Bernardes of Ludlow. John also leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres funeral home located at 21 Tinkham Rd in Springfield from 9-11am on Wednesday, September 18th for a period of visitation. A funeral home service will begin at 11am. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield.
