Oscar A. Scott, 91, of Springfield passed away October 31, 2019 at Holyoke Healthcare Center. Oscar, son of the late Oscar Scott and Eleanor White, was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 25, 1928. Raised in Bridgeport, he was a graduate of Harding High School and went on to attain his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Bridgeport. Oscar proudly served his country as an air traffic controller in the US Army (Air Corps). He was a metallurgist who helped develop products for the medical profession and the space program using exotic metals. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Ludlow Country Club and Mill Valley. In retirement, he enjoyed his hobby making golf clubs for family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Angelina K. Scott; his brother, Edmund Scott; and his sisters, Dolores Kennedy and Phyllis Farkas. Oscar will be missed by all who knew him, including his children: David O. Scott of North Attleboro, MA; Robert A. Scott and his wife Emilie of Manhasset, NY, and Eleanor G. Scott of Springfield, MA; his grandchildren, Ian Scott, Rebekah Scott, Nicolette Scott, and Harry Scott; and many extended family members and friends. A graveside service for Oscar will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 at 1:15 PM at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave., Bridgeport, CT. There will be no calling hours. Sampson’s Family Chapels have been entrusted with his arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Oscar’s memory may be made to Soldier On, 425 North Main Street, Building 6, Leeds, MA 01053 to benefit veterans in need.
