Obituary

Darryl Willie Morris, 58, of Springfield passed away on November 3, 2019 following a courageous battle against cancer. The third of six children, Darryl (affectionately known as Black) was born on February 6, 1961 in Brooklyn, NY to Robert P. Morris and the late Pernese Morris.

Raised in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, Darryl attended James Madison High School. His strong drive and work ethic led him to begin working at S&S Hardware at the early age of 16. He was employed there for many years before he relocated to Springfield, MA in the 1990s.

After arriving in western Massachusetts, Darryl joined Olympic Fasteners where he was a member of the maintenance team for several years. Most recently, he held positions at Encompass Health and Carr Property Management. He was an extremely devoted professional and took great pride in his work.

Darryl enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was known for his love of music and untouchable dance moves; especially, the hustle. He was also a sports fan and political enthusiast.

Darryl was a proud father and devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his daughters, Tiffany Shavonne Tucker of Bronx, NY and Kandis Williams of Brooklyn, NY; grandsons, Zabar Irick and Kaeden Myrick; and great-granddaughter, Zoey Irick. He is also survived by his father, Robert P. Morris of Leland, NC; his sisters, Yvette Fulton of Leland, NC, Tracy Morris and her husband Mark Mayweather of Springfield, MA, and Pernese (Shawn) Morris of Springfield, MA; his brothers, Robert (Robbie) Morris of Leland, NC, Charles Morris and his wife Patricia of Fall River, MA, and Terin Gresham of North Carolina; his stepbrother, Ronald Gresham of North Carolina; his stepsister, Sheria Lofton of Charlotte, NC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
