SPRINGFIELD- Shirley Frances (Bressor) Ashe, 82, of Springfield passed away November 10, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Shirley, daughter of the late Arthur and Frances (Bora) Bressor, was born in Burlington, VT on March 18, 1935. Raised in Springfield, she was a graduate of Cathedral High School and went on to graduate from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Shirley was a registered nurse for Mercy Hospital where she retired in 1992 after 35 years of dedicated service. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley will be missed by all who knew her, including her beloved husband of 59 years, William Ashe; her children, Timothy Ashe of Hanover, NH, Mary Conway of East Longmeadow, Peter Ashe and his wife Dyna of Sudbury, MA, Erin Merrow and her husband Terry of Woodstock, CT, and Daniel Ashe and his wife Tanya of Sturbridge; her sisters, Betty Mulvaney and her husband Larry of Schenectady, NY, Marion Simpson of Agawam, and Lorraine Mazzariello of Springfield; her grandchildren, Jacqueline, Halle, Evan, Matthew, Taylor, Paige, Elizabeth, Owen, and Rebecca; her great grandchildren, Jake and Katie; and many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours for Shirley will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 4PM to 7PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 beginning at Sampson’s at 8:45AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Home Instead Senior Care for their compassionate care over the past several years.
