Obituary for Dorothy Starzyk (Russell)

SPRINGFIELD- Dorothy Ann (Russell) Starzyk, 85, of Springfield passed away May 11, 2018 at Chapin Center. Dorothy, daughter of the late James and Helen (Stephanovich) Russell, was born in Springfield on July 7, 1932. A lifelong resident of Springfield, she was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Dorothy enjoyed painting and shopping. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband John B. Starzyk Sr.; her sons, John B. Starzyk Jr and Stanley Starzyk; and her brother, Thomas J. Russell. She will be missed by all who knew her, including her daughter, Linda Gordon of Springfield; her son, Steven Starzyk and his wife Theresa of Winstead, CT; her grandchildren, Craig, Amanda, Thomas, Kenneth, Christopher, Victoria, and Alexander; her great grandchildren, Aiden, Ty, Rory, Brian, Jason, Belle, Scarlett, and Kari; and many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours for Dorothy will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4PM to 7PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 beginning at Sampson’s at 8:45 followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, 387 Chestnut Street, Springfield. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Abbey Memorial Drive, Chicopee. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
